About Patran

Activity philosophy

“Patran”, which involves running and patrolling the streets, is an activity carried out independently by citizens. It started in January 2013 in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Wearing bright red T-shirts, we go on patrol runs mainly at night and when children are leaving school.
In addition to being easy to engage in activities that suit each person’s lifestyle, it also helps improve wellbeing by making friends in the community and promoting health. By engaging in leisurely activities with an exercise style and frequency that suits you, you create warm, watchful eyes in the community and contribute to creating a city where everyone can live comfortably.

That running becomes “treasury”

People have different reasons for participating in Patran, such as for the town, for someone else, or for themselves. One of the appeals of Patran is that anyone can easily engage in it without imposing heavy hurdles for the benefit of society or the region.
We believe that having your own purpose and having fun participating will ultimately benefit society.

VISION and MISSION

At Patran, we promote our activities based on the following philosophy.
VISION: A society where children, women, and the elderly can live with peace of mind
MISSION: Make Patran a Japanese culture

Activity theme

In order to realize the vision set forth by Patran, we are promoting activities based on four activity themes.

Social issues addressed

We are promoting activities aimed at solving the following issues.

Message from the President

The reason I started Patran was because a woman I knew had been victimized by a suspicious person. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any major damage, but it did leave a scar on her heart. “If someone had been there, the damage could have been prevented.” This was the first thing that made me think about community safety. Looking at Japan as a whole, the number of criminal law crimes is decreasing, but that does not mean that the crimes themselves have disappeared. As times change, there are concerns that the guardians of the region may disappear. We are focusing on this current situation and working on Patran to create a community where residents can live with peace of mind. We would like to establish Patran as a culture that Japan is proud of and create a community where everyone can spend time with smiles.

Patran JAPAN Secretariat
We have established the Patran JAPAN Secretariat to support the activities of members nationwide.
